After watching this video by Monocle, I knew Kakimori had to be top on my list in Tokyo. A good notebook is a essential to the creative life and a treasure once filled. I entered the store at its noon opening hour (things seemed to open relatively late in Tokyo). I was braced to be overwhelmed by choices, but I think they stocked just the right amount for you to have fun choosing and matching your cover designs, paper types, binding and closure method without feeling like you had paralysis of analysis in too many choices. After choosing all of the components, they will gladly assemble it for you. The staff was beyond delightful and hospitable—nothing less to be expected of the Japanese. They also had a lovely stationery selection (all designed in-house), pens, markers and ready-to-go perfect-bound notebooks.
