Meet Sommer Collins

Founder and CEO
Sommer embodies a profound dedication to transforming healthcare experiences. She has over two decades of expertise as a healthcare improvement consultant. She has a Master's in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, emphasizing health systems improvement. Sommer's journey is deeply intertwined with her family's health challenges, including managing chronic conditions and navigating the health and wellness landscape, at home and while traveling.

in 2018, her and her family moved to Krakow, Poland for three years. The experience greatly impacted her understanding of the difference between being a privileged, well-connected patient and a vulnerable one. While abroad, she and her family navigated the complexities of unfamiliar healthcare resources, utilizing healthcare in 11 countries, and a new epilepsy diagnosis for one of her daughters.  Those experiences added to her passion to improve care and so Sommer founded ExploreWell to help travelers navigate medical and wellness like an informed local.

As a mother of four, some with chronic health needs, and with a strong interest in the entire spectrum of care-from medical to wellness, she understands the complexity of the health landscape. This empathy forms the foundation of ExploreWell-your savvy friend that empower you to respond efficiently to get care you need, and equally important, to seek out care to help you thrive.

Her commitment to simplifying healthcare navigation stems from a deeply rooted desire to alleviate stress and burden for others and to level the understanding of the confusing array of resources available in the health and wellness landscape. Through ExploreWell, Sommer aims to equip travelers with practical tools to empower them on their journey.
